SF Bay Area Masters or Super Masters League

SF Bay Area Masters or Super Masters League

Postby palax14 » Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:22 am

It maybe a bit premature to think we could start a formal league, but is anyone interested in at least a pickup for over 35 players? Maybe within a few years, some of the NCLA men's teams could spin off a masters or super masters team.

I think that would be excellent! It seems to me that the club league is really stagnant because there a few teams that many of the top players want to play for and then there's a few teams that have older and less serious players. It would be very nice to have a masters league where guys that have been out of the game for several years could come back and play at a level that would be fun.

There are a bunch of guys in Marin who are 35+ and would play in a league or pick up. Most are good but lack the legs to play current club ball where most guys are well under 35.

35+ pickup this summer?

Postby palax14 » Sun May 13, 2007 2:07 pm

It would be cool to get a few pickup games started this summer/fall. I could get access to some fields here in the PA area, but most are probably from SF area so not sure if many would want to travel down here.

I'm up for going as far North as Marin every once in awhile.

I'd play. Still nursing a new ACL but I plan on playing this summer. Any ideas on how to pool all the 35+ players? Maybe get a Nor Cal team together for a tourney?

Depending upon the timing I could get some Marin guys down to PA and we can organize fields up here too. A NorCal tourney team woudl be cool. I am gonig to the Vail 40+ tourney this summer. Not that easy to get guys willing to commit though.

Seems the posts just died off on this thread. I'd be interested in any old guy p/u games that get going - make sure you broadcast out. My knees are shot but I'm a goalie - so of course I'm in.
If they don't play lacrosse in heaven - I'm not going!

July or August

Postby palax14 » Fri May 25, 2007 2:27 pm

I will see about organizing a pickup game on a Saturday in July or August for the over 35'ers.

Start spreading the word around and I'll post back here with some details when I finalize them.

Masters

Postby hansel » Sun Jul 01, 2007 6:25 pm

I just got back from playing in the Supermasters in Vail and it was a blast. The 40+ teams are really competitive there but everyone had a blast. It would be great to have some 35+ pick up games and I will help recruit some north bay players to join in.
