Are you sure about the May 16th games? The word docs on the NCJLA show May 16th semis at the higher seed spots (though it is copy/pasted from the quarters line and actually says quarterfinals). Also, the events list on the home page says the HS championships will be May 16th at TI.

Yes, 5/16 is now on higher seed's home field. I think this is insane in that there will be three possible locations for every game on 5/16 dependingon the 5/15 results. There are 10 games on 5/15 so that's 30 potential 5/16 locations to reserve fields, line up refs, etc. Now what are we going to do with the 20 locations and ref crews that we don't end up needing on 5/15? Logistical nightmare.

Yes it makes for a logistical nightmare. I think your math is a bit off though. For the 5 boys playoff divisions U11A/U13A/B1/U15A/B1, you have 20 games on May 15th, which would mean 40 possibilities for the 16th with 30 of them going unused.

Ok, this will qualify as boring for some so go ahead and skip if you think you'll be bored:

On Sat 5/15 there are the "quarterfinals" which are 20 games at 20 possible locations. Higher seed hosts (1, 2, 3, and 4) x 5 divisions. We'll know the seeds on 5/8 so there's one week to plan those games.

U15A: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, & 4v5
U15B1: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, & 4v5
U13A: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, & 4v5
U13B1: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, & 4v5
U11A: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, & 4v5

On Sat 5/16 there are the "semifinals" which are 10 games and 30 possible locations. We'll know the 5/15 results on the night of 5/15 so there's less than 24 hours to plan those games.

U15A: 1v8 winner plays 4v5 winner (possible locations are 1, 4, 5)
U15A: 2v7 winner plays 3v6 winner (possible locations are 2,3, 6)
U15B1: 1v8 winner plays 4v5 winner (possible locations are 1, 4, 5)
U15B1: 2v7 winner plays 3v6 winner (possible locations are 2,3, 6)
U13A: 1v8 winner plays 4v5 winner (possible locations are 1, 4, 5)
U13A: 2v7 winner plays 3v6 winner (possible locations are 2,3, 6)
U13B1: 1v8 winner plays 4v5 winner (possible locations are 1, 4, 5)
U13B1: 2v7 winner plays 3v6 winner (possible locations are 2,3, 6)
U11A: 1v8 winner plays 4v5 winner (possible locations are 1, 4, 5)
U11A: 2v7 winner plays 3v6 winner (possible locations are 2,3, 6)

Like I said - crazy. It sounds easy enough just to say "higher seed hosts", until you start thinking about it and doing the math. Unfortunately I always think about it and do the math.

Hey chmdave. Thanks for reminding me. There's not much that could pull me away from the Amador vs SRV EBAL slugfest - except a youth game like this one! Instead of procnosticating I jumped down 680 to go take this one in. I'm glad I did. Wonderful, beautiful game.

The Firehawks won 8-5, but So Marin had two 4th quarter goals waived off (crease violation & too many men on field). So Marin also missed a shot on an open goal. The Firehawks held the lead almost the whole game, but every time the Firehawks looked like they were going to blow the game open the Wolfpack came back. There's a lot of fight in this So Marin team.

So Marin is a very, very good team. I've been a fan of Michael Mindel teams for years. Great discipline. Joe Lang and Dexter are so fun to watch. Amazing talent in a great system.

The Firehawks are just loaded at every position. Virtually every player is an all star. Kodiak Adams and Frankie Hattler are all world (for youth players). Doug Appleton does a superb job of weaving this amazing talent into a cohesive team.

I watch a lot of lacrosse. This game was as good as it gets. The talent, coaching, strategy, and execution in this game was as good as high-level varsity HS games. Games between teams like this remind me of how far we've come in Nor Cal lacrosse. I have nothing but praise for both coaches and team. A job well done!

I think there is a very high probability that these two teams end up in the Final Four.

The scorpions vs. Firehawks game was a thriller! It ended with the fire hawks winning 13 to 12 by a last second goal by Sean mayle. Both teams played well and I can't wait to play those guys in the playoffs!
