#25 is Sean Mayle. The issue with his stick was that he had removed the end cap and taped the butt end which seems to be a common practice among kids these days. When the stick length was measured by the refs it was just under one tenth of an inch too short as the butt end had been removed. The stick came right off the shelf.

If your kids are removing the butt ends on their sticks and they are standard middie or attack length you might want a get a tape measure out, or get them to put the butt end back on so you don't get an unecessary penalty.

Thanks for the insight groundball. That's a good tip about taping the butt making your stick too short. Sean is a great dodger in traffic so that's probably what drew the attention for the stick check. Even more reason to make sure your stick is legal.

The NCJLA site isn't working properly in the updating between schedule & results. The results (by division) pages show teams at 2-2 (ours, for example), but when you click on that team's name, you see they're actually 3-3. It looks like its not auto-updating from one page to the next, so maybe someone's behind on manually entering if that's what it takes.

It also is showing ties for games which haven't been entered yet, rather than just not mentioning them at all. That's a little odd.

And finally - is it bugging anyone else that you have to go to separate places for upcoming games (schedule) vs. past games (results)? What's wrong with clicking on a team and seeing their whole season at once? That's the way every other sports site does it (even newspapers)... games in the past have scores, games in the future don't. Having to go to separate places is kind of stupid.

Sorry to be so un-PC. My Club paid $5700 in NCJLA dues this year (not including ref fees) and I guess I expect more for the money than a dysfunctional website and unfilled management positions.

There's two sets of standings numbers: league and overall. The "league" standings are your results in U15A East (2-2) while the "overall" standings (3-3) are all you games. Both sets of numbers are shown on the NCJLA standings page.

I also find it odd that results and schedule are not shown on the same page.

15B1 game report

Postby frieders3 » Sun Mar 28, 2010 4:22 pm

Friday night the Livermore Phantoms and Diablo Scorpio U15B1 teams played a spirited game under the lights with Diablo pulling out a 7-6 win in sudden death overtime. The winning goal was highly disputed as a hard shot hit the Phantom goalie in the chest protector (most of the fans heard this loud and clear) and was called a goal by the official claiming the ball went into the net. In fact the ball never went near the net and no one reacted (even the 'winning' team!) as if it did go into the net - fans and players alike. For some reason this game was played under the officials rule that it had to end at 8:40 and guess what - it ended at 8:40! A hard, spririted game shouldn't have to end like this. Another problem is that the game started at 7:15 when all the schedules showed a 7:30 game start and the Phantoms had several players arriving late due to traffic and a poor address given for the park location. All in all, a well played game that shouldn't have ended in this manner.

Some info on playoffs ...

There will be an 8 team field for U15A playoffs:

- Final 8 will be played on Saturday, May 15th hosted at home by seeds 1 through 4
- Semifinals will be played on Sunday, May 16th at Treasure Island
- Consolation game (for Bronze Medal) will be played on Saturday, May May 22nd at Treasure Island
- Championship game (for Gold & Silver Medals) will be played on Sunday, May 23rd at Treasure Island

This different from the traditional NCJLA Final Four format which required a double header on championship day. I like the new format better as that double header was killer!

Right now the 8 team seeding would probably look something like this:

1. Scorpions (East Leader w/ wins over Firehawks, S. Marin, Pleasanton, and Ross Valley)
2. Firehawks (South Leader)
3. S. Marin (North Leader)
4 & 5. Ross Valley & Pleasanton (either order)
6. Central Marin
7. ??
8. ??

The final two spots are up for grabs. I think that the Crusaders will secure one of those slots as they're playing pretty good right now and I think they'll win out on their remaining schedule. The Scorpions and Firehawks still look strong and will be tough to beat in the playoffs whomever gets those final spots.

Didn't see this last week. but my initial reaction to your comment would have been the Red Hawks would come out ahead of the Crusaders having seen them both. They flip flopped over the weekend as the Red Hawks beat the Crusaders. Crusaders had a 3 week gap in the schedule (Spring Break?) which probably set them back. As of right now, the last team in the top 8 is looking to be a .500 team.

Diablo Scorpion B15A 11 0 0
Firehawks B15A 8 1 0
S. Marin Wolfpack B15A 9 1 0
Pleasanton Thunder B15A 8 3 0
Central Marin Blue Jays B15A 7 3 0
Ross Valley B15A 5 2 0
West Valley Red Hawks B15A 5 4 0
Walnut Creek Warriors B15A 4 4 0
Novato B15A 4 4 0
Petaluma River Cats B15A 4 4 0
El Dorado Hills Trojans B15A 4 5 0
Tomahawks B15A 4 5 0
South Bay Crusaders Blue B15A 4 6 0
