Billax wrote:Hey Guys,
The forum's stated philosophy is to keep it positive. The same document says that we keep it kid-friendly, as many of our readers are youth players. The following quotes are not supportive:

"Festival tryouts were terrible. Way to many boys that should have not been there."

"I participated in the Festival team tryouts and I felt exactly the same way. It was very frustrating during drills when there would be a good pace kept up in the drill, and balls were being fired back and forth, and then people would drop great passes. No matter how crisp some of the passes were, some people had extreme difficulty hanging on to the easiest and most accurate of passes. This was frustrating and could end up reflecting poorly on the thrower of the pass, were really there was frequently nothing they could do."

"The Festival tryouts figured to be a let down...many teams sent too many players, including a number of B level players. In theory, I can see you want everyone to have the experience, but realistically, if you can't make your clubs A team, then how do you expect to make a NorCal team?

Instead you have players who can't catch or throw at an A level taking up space and bringing down the other players around them."

There are plenty of outlets for snarky comments and disparaging prose - but this forum isn't one of them. Please keep it positive and supportive. WARNED.

My appologies Billax. I was trying to supply constructive criticism for next year's tryouts, but I made a mistake in wording. I'll keep your suggestions in mind while posting.
Thanks again

Fair enough, didn't know we needed to keep everyone in a plastic bubble. But I agree -- could have used better language to make the same point. Just can't keep telling kids I'm OK, You're OK or they will never grow. Perhaps a more realistic approach to how is allowed to try out would be the solution.

There are 8 HS players and 16 NCJLA youth players.

Interestingly 15 of the 16 youth players are also on Team Talon
.

Wow, 15 of the 16 youth players were all from one traveling team? who was the one that wasn't?

At least six of those kids won't be there as they are going to Vail as replacements for the 9th graders selected to National Championship team....list should be out this week as to who those six are.

Does anyone have the 6 boys going to Vail? Interesting enough, not all the boys were at tryouts on Sunday evening. Some already told they didn't need to go to tryouts and already have a spot secured on Festival team. Can anyone post the 2 teams for U15 to go to Lake George this summer?

My understanding is the six going to Denver/Vail are:

Peter Tagliaferri - Scorpions midfield
Niko Souza - Scorpions defender
Nick Halmark - Novato (I think) - middie
Josh Miller - Pleasanton goalie
Steven Wilm - Scorpions middie (I think)
Ben Garfinkle - Firehawks attack

I know at least two boys who didn't go because they didn't think they needed to tryout and they didn't make it...too bad, would have really helped the teams.
