U15A Preview for 2010 Season

I don't know all that much about this year's teams myself. It would be good to hear some input. The little bit I know ...

Scorpions will be tough as always. Todd French and Mark Bonham have done an excellent job with this years 8th graders as far back as I can remember. There's a Mullen on this team and he can play like big bro'. The goalie Danny A. is very good. Kelly French is a strong attack player and Trenton Shore has a rocket shot off the righty wing. The Scorps have not won a U15A since Peter Worstell's 2008 team. I would say that they are the favorites this year, but they are certainly not a lock.

The U15A contenders may be a bit surprising.

There's a lot of talent on the Crusaders and I've watched this team improve year over year. I think they get the nod over the Firehawks as the best to the South this year and have the talent to make a run at Diablo.

I expect Novato and Ross Valley to be the best of the north and both are capable of winning U15A.

My final four prediction is Scorpions, Crusaders, Novato, and Ross with Scorpions over the Crusaders in the championship.
Now my prediction ability is probably stretched here. I'd be interested in hearing other input.

I would go with Pleasanton to repeat as champs of U13A. Over half that team is back and they have some dominating middies, which is probably the biggest factor in U13A. Ross and So Marin are probably the top U13A contenders.

Pleasanton U15A crushed the Crusaders today. So much for my ability to prognosticate this group. Hopefully I don't get fired as the youth moderator :)

Some props are due for the Redding Lacrosse community for hosting a great Jamboree this past weekend at the Sports Complex there. John Kegel and his volunteers really did a good job coordinating an event that included a good mix of youth, and all the way up to MCLA (St. Mary's vs. Southern Oregon) collegiate players.

Granite Bay 1-1
Lamorinda 0-2
Livermore 0-2

U15A - North
Novato 2-0
Ross Valley 2-0
Central Marin 1-0
Town 1-1
Petaluma 0-4

U15A - South
Monterey 1-0
Redhawks 3-1
Firehawks 1-1
Stuart Hall 1-3
Crusaders 0-2

U13A - East
Pleasanton 3-0
Lamorinda 3-1
Walnut Creek 1-1
Diablo 0-2

U13A - West
Ross Valley 2-0
Town 2-0
S Marin 2-0
Firehawks 1-2
Central Marin 0-2
Petaluma 0-3

I'd be interested in hearing more predictions after seeing the early season results.

The surprise team for me so far is the Lamorinda U13A. It's good to see a strong Lamorinda A team again. It's been a while.

Pik, Central Marin U15A crushed Novato U15A a few weeks ago in a referee training scrimmage. In fact, Novato immediately canceled one of the two regular season games scheduled just after the scrimmage. I would guess the U15A North division will be a battle between Ross Valley and Central Marin.

That doesn't sound like the Marty Jayne that I know...

Is there more to the story?

Nobody should be surprised about the Lamorinda U13A team- this has been building for a while. The surprise team so far should be the Lamorinda U15A team. I'll say it now before this weekend's tilt w/ Diablo takes some of the wind out of their sails- they are sitting atop the East, and have played well. signs that there is some fight ahead for the DFAL!
