JV LAX jamboree at Foothill today

Postby Grampa Lax » Sat Feb 15, 2014 10:49 am

For those looking for some early HS Lax there will be a four team JV lax Jamboree at Foothill HS beginning at 11:30 through 5:00 pm today Saturday Feb 15 2014. The JV teams participating are Amador Valley, Foothill, SRVHS, and Acalanes High Schools. Might be fun to get an early look at some up and coming JV teams. The teams are probably a little rusty as some weren't chosen until yesterday ( one practice eg. SRVHS.) But after a long draught( bad word) of no HS lacrosse for 9 months might be fun to take a look see.
As to local Varsity games looking ahead an engaging opener for both SRVHS and SI at SRV on Saturday March 1 beginning at 2:00 pm. SI lost a host of kids to graduation but let's face it the Cats simply reload. SRV has 5 Div 1commits so might be a good one. The Wolves however are not deep at Middie. They will probably go only as far as their second and third line Middies can take them . Other Teams to watch that might break the SI stranglehold on Numero uno in Nor Cal are De La Salle ( loaded and deep) and Redwood full of skill players but also perhaps lacking in depth. Should be very competitive. Also never count out MV Mustangs and their coach Ted spencer. Should be fun! Let the games begin!

The jamboree at Foothill HS was a success. The Foothill folks put on a really good event. In addition to the 5 schools participating and some good lacrosse ( rare that the younger JV kids get recognition) There was a great snack shack, sponsors with prizes from Sling it and in general a fun afternoon. The kids were rusty as no one had yet been able to do much practicing and the kids were inexperienced ( read JV's) but there was a lot of spirit and proud parents. As in any Jamboree no scores were officially kept but everyone was keeping score to themselves. San Ramon appeared to be the most talented team there and won all three of their games by comfortable margins. They had a big and aggressive defense that only allowed 6 goals in total for the 3 games. I hope they continue with this format into the future in which the JV kids get some individual recognition and are not just a preliminary event before the varsity game begins. Nice job Foothill High for hosting it.
