Game 1 Report

All: I have been asked to provide a little post play by play for the Titans. I've done this for my son's high school team when they are away at tournaments.

First, let me preface this by noting that I don't know all your sons well yet. I will do my best to include something positive about each boy for each game. And today, we were up in the stands trying to stay out of the sun and the numbers were very hard to distinguish from 20 rows up. So let me apologize in advance because I'm sure I will leave out some boys and it is certainly not intentional. They all played great today.

Titans are playing Black Hawks Red from Massachusetts, but a young team and we should do well. Final score shows Titans superiority on a team they should beat handily. 12-1 Titans victory.

Game #1 Summary: Titans vs. Black Hawks Red

Titans had the first game on the schedule today at the University of Delaware Football stadium on their turf field. A few cloudy skies, and temps in the high 90's at game time but with a slight breeze.

Game is two halves, running time. Boys looked pumped.

Josh Wellman on the first face off but the ball goes to Hawks. Hawks drive to goal and take a shot but Cam Bowlby in goal makes a nice save. Michael Tagliaferri (Tags from now on) drives to goal but a high shot is saved by the Hawks goalie. Nice defense by our attackmen and middies and ball can't be cleared and goes back to Titans.

Mikie Schlosser takes the ball from the top and drives right but his low shot is saved by the goalie. Again, Titans play tough D on the clear and Briton Barge intercepts the clear pass at midfield and Titans keep possession. Wiley Osborne and Chad Bell both take nice shots but can't score but Titans keep possession. Finally, Will Montero gets an open shot from top right and buries the ball into the back of the net. Titans lead 1-0.

Hawks get the next face off and a fast break on transition results in a goal to tie the score 1-1. It's the last score for the Hawks.

Josh Wellman again on face off and he shows throughout the game his excellence in the skill. Titans work ball around but can't score and Hawks go back on offense.

Matt Corbin and Jack McGovern make some nice defensive plays and Hawks can't get off a shot. David Fleming knocks away a pass and picks up and clears the ball. Good team Titans D.

Spencer Evans drives from the top to his right but his shot hits off the post and Hawks clear. But defense steps up again and Jack McGovern clears for Titans.

Teams trade possessions and with Hawks trying to clear from their goal, Michael Tags intercepts a pass at midfield and drives through several defenders to score the Titans second goal. 2-1 Titans.

Next possession goes to Hawks, but Rudy Buhlman plays good D and forces a turnover to Titans. Cameron Bowlby clears to Jack McGovern at midfield who passes to Wiley Osborne cutting to goal drawing their D and Wiley hits Jack McCormick on the other wing for a bang bang goal 3-1 Titans.

Josh Wellman wins another face off but Titans turn it over. Their goalie walks up the ball and tries to clear to midfield but David Fleming intercepts the pass and calmly puts a 25 yard shot into the net as the goalie tried desperately to get back. 4-1 Titans.

Two teams trade a few possessions with good Titans D and some nice saves by Cameron Bowlby.

Michael Tags gets the ball on a clear and cuts through 4 defenders then finds Jack McCormick coming in from the left wing who also fakes two defenders and buries the shot over the goalie's shoulder. 5-1 Titans.

On the next Hawks possession, good team D once again. Jack McGovern knocks the Hawks player into the back of the crease as he's trying to roll around goal. Bowlby gets the ball to Peter Tags (the handsome one) and with some crisp passing, it goes from Peter Tags to Wiley Osborne to Jack McCormick for a goal and a 6-1 lead.

Charlie Ford grabs a tough and contested ground ball off the next face off and clears to Jack McCormick. Jack finds Wiley Osborne open for a shot and nice goal to push the lead to 7-1.

Half ends.

Will Ernst goes in to goal for the second half.

Patrick Tracy, Moore Harris and Jackson Teague go in on attack to start the second half.

Josh Wellman wins another face off but Titans can't get settled and turn over the ball.

Again, tough defense on the Hawks as they try to clear. Joe Lang, playing middy, intercepts a pass to get possession back to the Titans. Ball comes loose but Matt Corbin gets the loose ground ball and clears to Michael Tags. Tags takes the ball from right to left and buries a side arm shot into the net for a Titans score and an 8-1 lead.

On the next possession, Chad Bell drives towards goal and shoots but nice stop by their goalie prevents another goal. Ball gets loose into our defense, but Ian Nuzum makes several nice plays, once flicking a ground ball over the waiting stick of a Hawk to gain possession for the Titans. But we can't score.

Hawks clear and Titans commit their first penalty, so we have to play man down. Rudy Buhlman, Ian Nuzum, Briton Barge, Riley Burke and Matt Corbin are in on man down D. Titans keep Hawks from taking a shot and Briton Barge makes a nice play to force the Hawks away from the box. Rudy Buhlman makes a great interception and tries to clear but Titans turn over the ball back to Hawks. But D kills the man down without Hawks getting off a shot and Titans regain possession.

Titans get into the offensive end but can't get a score. Again, tough D by the middies and attackmen on the clears results in a turnover to Jackson Teague who hits David Fleming on the right for a top shelf right corner shot that scores. 9-1 Titans.

Next possession goes to Titans and Jackson Teague quickly finds Will Montero cutting to goal. Montero scores again and extends the lead to 10-1.

Josh Wellman gets the next face off again and finds Moore Harris on the wing who finds Jackson Teague in the middle with an open shot. Teague fires a shot past the goalie and Titans go up 11-1.

Hawks getting frustrated and commit a penalty so Titans play man up with half winding down. Michale Tags, Chad Bell, Mikie Schlosser, Frankie Hattler, Wiley Osborne and Jack McCormick on attack. Titans work ball around the cage and find Wiley alone in front. Osborne tries a underhanded, between the legs shot that falls short. Titans don't score.

Hawks bring down the ball and Titans are called for another penalty. Man down D comes in. Hawks do get off a shot but Will Ernst makes a nice save and clears. Hawks foul and Titans again play man up offense. But Titans can't score and Hawks go on offense.

Matt Corbin comes up with another great play knocking the Hawks player out of bounds and getting possession back to Titans. Michael Tags drives to goal and splits 4 defenders, but his one handed shot goes wide. Frankie Hattler grabs the ball and rolls around the crease from behind to find the back of the net and make the final score 12-1 Titans.

Titans continue to play hard to the end with Josh Wellman winning the face off, then Ian Nuzum and Jack McGovern double teaming a Hawks player to cause a turnover. Hawks can't get off a shot in last two minutes and Titans win their first game.

12-1.

Stats (Being the father of a long poll, I know that there are many more stats than goals and assists. But it's too hard to keep track of them all and the game, even with all the talented help I have to keep track of plays, so the following are some abbreviated stats):

Will Montero 2
Michael Tagliaferri 2 1

Game 2

Game 2 started at 7:30 on the grass practice fields behind the football stadium. Temperature did cool down, but back here it's all relative. It was much more comfortable tonight and a cool breeze helped.

Titans are playing another team called the Hawks, but this one is from Maryland (Annapolis area).

Game Summary: Will Ernst starts in goal.

Titans start off and keep possession on offense in front of Hawks goal for several minutes. Chad Bell and Wiley Osborne each get quick goals to start the game and Titans go up 2-0. This is clearly a better team than our first opponent though.

Hawks finally go on offense but good team D, including Jack McGovern and Matt Corbin who gathers in a tough ground ball to clear to the offense.

Hawks get possession back but Will Ernst makes a nice play picking off a pass over the goal and Titans take possession back. Titans don't score and Hawks try to clear but Chad Bell at middie intercepts the pass to keep possession. Titans can't score though.

More tough D and Jack McGovern gets a loose ground ball back to Will Ernst who clears to midfield. Chad Bell makes a nice move to get close to their goalie, but his shot goes off a defenders shoulder and ball goes back to Hawks.

Again, tough D on the team clears and Joe Lang intercepts a pass at midfield. Titans can't score again on this possession.

Hawks get a fast break but Jack McGovern gets back and checks the ball away. Titans clear and go on offense. Moore Harris uses his size to make a nice crease roll and takes a shot but it goes just wide.

Hawks again go on offense but Riley Burke and Matt Corbin make nice defensive plays to keep Hawks from shooting. Team defense is strong and Titans take over again.

Ball goes to the offensive side and Patrick Tracy rolls from behind the net with a great dodge but his shot goes just high over the goalie. Another Titans shot is stopped by their goalie. Goalie walks up the ball to midfield and then takes off towards our goal. He dodges 3 or 4 defenders and bounces a shot that gets by Will Ernst for Hawks first goal. 2-1. Coaches not happy about that to say the least.

On the face off, Josh Wellman gets the ball to Long poll Charlie Ford and Titans take possession. Ball goes back to Hawks and again D steps up. Rudy Buhlman plays great position D and Hawks can't get off a shot. Titans get ball back and clear.

Hawks are called for a penalty and Titans go on man up offense. Michael Tags shot goes just high and Hawks try to clear. But Chad Bell intercepts the pass again at midfield and hits Frankie Hattler in front of goal. Hattler buries the shot and Titans go up 3-1.

On the next face off, ball gets to Jackson Teague who drives to goal but his shot goes just wide. Hawks try to get one last goal before half, but good team D especially Peter Tags and half ends with no shots by Hawks.

3-1 Titans at half.

Josh Wellman gets the 2nd half face off and despite being tripped and tumbling, he maintains possession. Titans fail to score though and Hawks go on offense.

Ian Nuzum makes a nice play on D and clears for Titans. Titans on offense work the ball around and Wiley Osborne hits Mikie Schlosser cutting to goal but his shot goes just wide. Hawks go back on offense.

Again D steps up and again Ian Nuzum with good position D to drive Hawks shooter wide and away from the cage.

Teams exchange possessions until Titans are called for a foul and have to play man down. Tough D keeps Hawks from shooting and Titans try to clear. But Hawks intercept and a fast break results in a goal. 3-2 Titans.

Titans are called for another penalty and have to play man down D, but again D steps up and won't allow a shot. Titans take over.

Titans work the ball to offense and Patrick Tracy loses his behemoth defender and fires a low shot past the goalie from the right wing to push the score to 4-2.

Ball goes to the Hawks on the face off, but Jack McGovern causes a turnover behind the cage and Titans clear. Another Hawks possession, and this time Matt Corbin steps up with a great check, ground ball and clear. But we can't score and Titans are called for a penalty.

This time, Hawks do get loose and score on their man up. Now 4-3 Titans.

Josh Wellman takes the next face off beautifully and starts a fast break, but even with 4 quick, crisp passes, the shot goes high and back to Hawks.

Ian Nuzum on D with a good check of their shooter and clears to Spencer Evans. Ball gets worked around and Jack McCormick takes it on the left wing, dodges two defenders and goes over the goalie's shoulder top shelf to push the lead back to two. 5-3 Titans.

Now 5 minutes left.

David Fleming gets a tough ground ball on the face off and clears to the offensive side. Boys work the ball behind to Jackson Teague who finds Patrick Tracy on the wing for a shot that goes by the goalie. 6-3 Titans.

Hawks go back on offense but again tough D who do not allow a shot. Titans clear, now 2 minutes left.

Titans kill most of the clock although Hawks get it with seconds left but fail to get off even a desperation shot and Titans win again. 6-3.

Tomorrow, boys have 4 games. I'll try to get the game summaries out as quickly as possible.

Boys looks good and Eric and Chris are not letting them get cocky. Plenty of good competition here to come

Game 3

Another good win for the Titans this morning. Game against Team 91 from Long Island (Babylon, Long Island). Final score 6-2.

Warm and muggy but not as bad as the last few days. We are on grass fields behind the football stadium. Plenty of lacrosse going on.

Game Summary:

First Half -

Will Ernst starts in goal.

Josh Wellman again takes the face off but ball rolls to our defensive end where Matt Corbin picks up the loose ball and clears. Michael Tags drives to the goal but his bounce shot goes over the cross bar and ball goes back to Team 91.

Team 91 tries to move the ball up quickly but a nice defensive play by Rudy Buhlman prevents a shot and they turn over the ball.

Michael Tags tries again from the top, this time adjusting and converting his bounce shot into a goal. Titans lead 1-0.

Josh Wellman pulls the ball on the face off to Dave Fleming on the wing who clears. But Titans turn it over in offensive end. On clear, Titans are called for a penalty and have to play man down. Team 91 works the ball around the goal and a lob pass over the D (who didn't have their sticks up) is caught on the left wing where the shooter takes his shot and scores to tie the game. 1-1

Josh Wellman (who is up against far bigger face off boys), wins another and Dave Fleming takes the ground ball and drives to goal. But his shot goes just wide. Jack McCormick grabs the loose ball and rolls in from the left wing to bounce a shot past the goalie. 2-1 Titans.

Team 91 gets the next face off, but Titans D steps up and Jack McGovern with a check, ground ball and clear gets it back for Titans. But Titans don't score and Team 91 back on offense.

Nice defense by Matt Corbin and Ian Nuzum prevent an open shot and Will Ernst is able to grab a poor shot so he can clear. Michael Tags again gets it past midfield, drives to goal, but his shot is wide. Titans don't score.

Team 91 clears the ball after a Titans shot with a long pass to player out in front of our goal. But Will Ernst makes a smart play and comes out of the crease to contest the pass and causes a turnover back to Titans. Smart move.

Will Ernst makes another great save and Ian Nuzum, Rudy Buhlman and Briton Barge are all very aggressive on D to force a turnover. Team 91 called for a hold and Titans go man up on offense.

Titans are crisp and precise with their passes around the goal until Jack McCormick reverses the flow, hits Will Montero on the left side who has come open and his top corner shot is a beauty to take the lead to 3-1.

Team 31 tries to clear with a long goalie pass and Ian Nuzum gets the ball away from Team 91 attackman. But Titans are called for a slash and play man down until the end of the half. But once again D steps up, Riley Burke and Briton Barge harassing their players at the top preventing them from even taking a shot. Half ends with Titans leading 3-1.

2nd Half

Team 31 starts 2nd half with continuation of man up for them. They take a shot but Cam Bowlby (now in goal) makes a great save and clears to Riley Burke. Titans turn it over at midfield.

Again, Cam Bowlby makes another great save and Ian Nuzum clears to Spencer Evans at midfield. Spencer takes it all the way to the right wing and fires a rocket shot that goes wide. Wiley Osborne makes a great save before the ball goes to the end line and finds Michael Tags crossing right to left in front of the goal. Tags waits to clear defense, the fires a behind the shoulder shot past the goalie to push the lead to 4-1. Great shot.

Team 91 does get the next face off and their shooter gets loose who gets it by Cam Bowlby and the score goes to 4-2 Titans.

Titans get the next face off, with Joe Lang grabbing the loose ball from his middie position. David Fleming takes the ball down the right side of the goal, switches hands and shoots left, but the shot goes a little wide. No Titans score.

Team 91 now clears and Titans are called for multiple penalties. There are 4 yellow flags strewn on the field. But Titans play really tough D. Team 91 does get off a shot, but Cam Bowlby gets a kick save and Ian Nuzum and Riley Burke clear. Michael Tags gets the ball at midfield and splits 3 defenders, but his shot goes off the post. Titans kill the penalties and only allow Team 91 one shot when we were 2 men down. Great work by the boys.

Titans are called for another penalty and play man down again. Team 91 does get off a couple of shots, but no goals given up and Titans clear.

Team 91 regains possession but Briton Barge and Jack McGovern each make nice D plays, ground balls and clears.

Chad Bell drives to the goal but his shot goes wide. Jack McCormick's bounce shot from the left wing is stopped. Titans are unsettled on D but Cam Bowlby saves a Team 91 shot and we take over possession again.

Chad Bell clears and drives to the middle of the box, but his shot is wide. Jackson Teague takes the ball from the left wing and drives to goal as Moore Harris is coming in hard from the right wing. Jackson draws the defenders, leaving the middle open for Moore who catches Jackson Teague's perfect pass in stride and buries the shot past the goalie to make it 5-2 Titans.

Once more, Titans gain possession and work the ball to the back of the cage. Wiley Osborne and Jack McCormick play give and go - with Jack McCormick setting a great screen that frees Wiley up from his man as he rolls from behind the crease and fires a shot into the net to take the lead to 6-2. Great play by those two.

Josh Wellman gets the next possession but Team 91 is desperate as time is running out and they regain possession. Ian Nuzum plants a great check on the Team 91 player to dislodge the ball and the game ends. Titans win 6-2.

Team is getting better and better each game. D and goalie work is outstanding. Offense is really starting to click, nice passing and good decisions.

Next game is right after this first today at 10:15.

Game 4

Game 4 Summary. Same grass field as this morning. 10:15 start, but hot and a little muggy.
Titans playing the Twist, a northern Pennsylvania team. Good team and good game, but Titans continue to play better and better each game. Coaches have them in sync. Titans win 6-0.
1st half – Will Ernst starts in goal. First few possessions go back and forth with each team probing for weakness and looking for advantages.
Jack McCormick is able to get a good shot on goal but ball goes over to Twist.
On D, Jack McGovern plays tight defense, grabs a loose ball and clears. Jackson Teague drives to the middle but his low shot goes just wide. Back to Twist.
Riley Burke makes a beautiful check and caused turnover at midfield to get the ball back to the Titans.
Titans go man up on a Twist penalty. Titans fire a couple of shots – Jack McCormick goes wide – Michael Tags is high. Then Frankie Hattler rolls from behind the crease and beats two defenders to get open and fires low past the goalie for the first goal of the half and a 1-0 Titans lead. Only 2 minutes to halftime, long half without any goals.
Josh Wellman grabs a very contested ground ball on the face off, but Titans turn it over. D plays tough and Will Ernst clears to Mikie Schlosser at midfield. Schlosser drives right of the cage, turns back left but his left handed shot goes just wide as the half ends.
Titans lead 1-0.
2nd Half:
Cam Bowlby goes in to goal. Rudy Buhlman, James Harrison and Ian Nuzmum on long poll D.
Wellman takes the face off and Briton Barge controls a tough ground ball, but Twist get it back.
James Harrison picks up a loose ball and clears to midfield, but Titans turn it over again. Twist take a shot but Cam Bowlby is up to the challenge and clears to Michael Tags. Tags drives to goal but his shot is wide.
Twist bring down the ball and Titans are called for a penalty. But again, D is terrific and Twist can’t get off a shot before turning over the ball. Peter Tags clears the ball after checking away a pass. But the Twist get back the ball and Rudy Buhlman makes a nice play to cause a turnover and clear to midfield.
Titans get their second goal on a fast break started by Spencer Evans but we couldn’t see who scored from where we were seated. 2-0 Titans. (If anyone remembers who scored, let me know and I’ll update).
Michael Tags gets a contested ground ball on the face off and starts a beautiful, bang/bang play with crisp passes that results in an open shot. Tags passes to Frankie Hattler who hits Patrick Tracy open on the wing and he beats the goalie to push the lead to 3-0.
Next face off goes to Titans, but Twist goalie stops shot and clears all the way past midfield into our box. His shot is high and Cam Bowlby outsprints the Twist player on the shot to the back line to get possession back for Titans. Twist coach is starting to come unglued.
Twist is then called for a slash on the clear and Titans go man up. Twist coach is jawing with the ref.
Man up for Titans works the ball around once, then Jack McCormick fakes a pass one way, as Michael Tags cuts into the crease. McCormick hits Tags in stride and his shot is good to extend the lead to 4-0.
After the face off, Mikie Schlosser is great in midfield clearing through defender from a clear by Cam Bowlby. Bowlby had for the second time outsprinted the Twist to the end line to gain possession. Their coach is really barking now.
Titans go on offense and David Fleming gets loose in front but has a bad angle shot. Instead, he goes behind his back for a shot that’s just tipped away by the goalie.
The refs reach their breaking point with the Twist coach and call him for a penalty, so Titans go man up again.
Titans work the man up beautifully. Finally, Wiley Osborne hits Michael Tags who busts free and he rockets a low shot past the goalie to go up 5-0.
Twist players as frustrated as coach. Lot’s of “California team is beating you” talk on the sideline. Ground balls are hotly contested with some big hits being delivered including Rudy Buhlman. But Titans are called for a penalty.
Titans D steps up again, and Matt Corbin knocks the ball loose and just as it’s heading out of bounds, he flips it back into play but Twist recover it. Ian Nuzum plays nice D and slides to prevent Twist from shooting. Again, no shots on man down.
Riley Burke causes a turnover and Briton Barge clears on a fast break. Barge hits Frankie Hattler on one side of the goal, who passes to Patrick Tracy on the opposite side for the goal and the final lead 6-0.
Boys were tired after this one. Lots of tough and aggressive play. Next game at 3 PM.
And big thank you to all the parents here who have a wonderful system keeping the boys cool, hydrated and fed. It’s real teamwork and so noticeable in the boys performance.

Game 5

This was the game that was on, then off, then on again.

Light rain has moved in over Newark and lightning was spotted around 2 PM, so it looked like the game was going to be canceled, and in fact, boys were told it was canceled, but then officials changed their mind and decided to play the game. This was no contest. Titans played the Shamrocks White from New Jersey and we destroyed them 15-1.

Game summary:

On the face off, Titans force a turnover in their defensive side of the field and Chad Bell clears the ball all the way down the field. He drives to goal and scores on a shot past the goalie. 1-0

Again, aggressive work at midfield and Titans get the ball. Chad Bell gets loose again and scores his second. 2-0.

Josh Wellman wins the next possession and Shamrocks can't even get the ball to midfield. But the Titans commit a foul and Shamrocks go on offense for the first time. Will Ernst in goal stops a shot, then RIley Burke grabs a loose ball in mid air, but Shamrocks recover and score. 2-1

Wellman gets the face off and the ball goes to Jack McCormick in the back behind the goal. McCormick does his best Irish Jig move, spinning around defenders from behind and flipping in the ball into the top corner. 3-1 Titans

Wellman wins face off again and Joe Lang gets the ball at the top of the box. Lang dodges left, then right and shoots right handed into the side of the net to push the score to 4-1.

Peter Tags drives to the right side and dishes to Wiley Osborne who gets it right back to Tags but Peter's low shot is stopped by the goalie. Shamrocks can't clear as Rudy Buhlman forces a turnover. Jack McCormick gets the ball on the wing and hits Jackson Teague going to goal. Teague scores and it's 5-1 Titans.

#564 takes shot but it goes a little high and Shamrocks clear. Jack McGovern forces bad pass and Titans take over.

Chad Bell gets another goal when Frankie Hattler hits him with a pass as he's driving to goal and the lead goes to 6-1.

Nice passing by long polls on the next face off. Riley Burke clears to our defense to Jack McGovern who hits Rudy Buhlman who then clears to middie Jackson Teague. Josh Wellman gets a goal on a loose ball and lead goes to 7-1.

Again, good D by the boys including Briton Barge and Jack McGovern. D won't let Shamrocks get near the goal. Rudy Buhlman and Ian Nuzum also help then clear.

Joe Lang then takes the ball to the left wing and hits Frankie Hattler on the right wing near the goal. Hattler grabs the pass then fires a jump shot past the goal and the lead is 8-1.

Next Shamrocks possession, Will Ernst grabs the shot then clears to Mikie Schlosser at midfield with beautiful running pass and catch. Schlosser gets the ball to Chad Bell who scores again and it's 9-1.

Titans commit a penalty but Will Ernst stops a shot and clears again to Mikie Schlosser at midfield who takes the ball himself down the right wing, cuts back left into the box and buries a shot into the net. 10-1 Titans.

Shamrocks get the face off but can't score. Jackson Teague intercepts a pass and gets it to Joe Lang on the wing. Lang hits Briton Barge busting towards the goal and Barge scores. Now 11-1 Titans.

Peter Tags gets a tough ground ball and its halftime.

2nd half

Peter Tags wins the face off.

Titans move it around the cage. Mikie Schlosser fires a lefty shot but it goes just wide. Spencer Evans also shoots just wide and ball goes back to Shamrocks.

Jack McGovern on D lifts the player almost off the ground and forces a bad pass, but Titans are called for a penalty. Then Titans commit a second penalty and have to play 2 men down. Good defense by the Titans and Shamrocks can only get off weak shots that go wide of the cage. Titans kill penalties.

On the Titans clear, Shamrocks are called for slash. Jack McCormick finds Frankie Hattler curling from behind for a shot and score. 12-1 Titans.

Next face off is hotly contested, but Riley Burke comes away with the ball and clears to Jack McCormick streaking down the right side of the box. McCormick draws the defense to him and hits Wiley Osborne on the left wing trailing the play. Osborne buries the shot. Now 13-1 Titans.

Shamrocks get the face off but tough D in midfield and they turn the ball over failing to advance it. Jackson Teague takes the ball and drives right drawing the defense to him and hitting David Fleming who is open on the wing for a shot and score. 14-1 Titans.

Peter Tags is tough on the face off and Moore Harris gets the ball. Harris drives to goal but his shot is just wide. Shamrocks clear and Jack McGovern is one on one with attackman. McGovern checks the ball away and clears to Rudy Buhlman who gets it to midfield.

Shamrocks are called for a penalty. Boys work it around and Jack McCormick finds Wiley Osborne at the top of the box and an open shot. Osborne blasts a rocket past the goalie into the top corner and the lead goes to 15-1.

Titans keep shooting. David Fleming is just wide with one. Jackson Teague is wide with another. Shamrocks try to clear but long poll Jack McGovern gets the ball at midfield and takes it himself towards goal. McGovern shows why he's playing long poll when he bounces a shot over the goal and fails to score.

Shamrocks do get it to their offensive side one last time and Cam Bowlby makes a nice jump save to prevent them from scoring.

Titans keep the ball in the offensive side for several minutes to close out the game.

Next game, if it happens, is at 6 PM.

Game 6
Titans played at the U of Delaware football stadium again this evening for Game 6 (played there game 1 yesterday). Titans played the Nova Flamingos, a team from northern Virginia who had only one loss coming into our game.

Quite honestly, and I don't say this to rub it in to those parents at home, but this team seems to get better and better with each game. They are clicking on almost every cylinder. I'm sure the coaches can find fault in some of the things they are doing, but to we parent observers, they are fantastic.

And tonight, they played without Matt Emery (back); Michael Tagliaferri (heel); and Josh Wellman (head and neck) - three fantastic players in their own right - and the Titans did not skip a beat.

Titans won 9-3 and you will read that all three of the Nova goals were in some ways weird or wacky.

Game Summary: The Titans have begun a war cry before they start a game. I asked the boys tonight what it is, because it sounds like the mating call of some love sick bird. But apparently, it is the war cry of the native people of Pandora from the movie Avatar. That's how they are starting their games - all in unison.

First half: Peter Tags is taking face offs while Josh Wellman rests. Chad Bell grabs the loose ground ball and finds Wiley Osborne in front of the crease. But Wiley's point blank shot is saved by the goalie and Nova takes over.

Joe Lang causes a turnover at midfield and finds Jack McCormick in front of the goalie. McCormick makes the goalie move twice and he scores. 1-0 Titans.

Peter Tags gets the next face off and Titans go on offense. Jack McCormick's crease roll shot is stopped by the goalie and Nova clears to their offensive end. But Jack McGovern and Ian Nuzum double team the player causing a bad pass and turnover back to Titans. Offense can't score and their goalie makes a save. But on their clear, goalie tries a looping pass to the middle and Mikie Schlosser turns on his jets to intercept the pass and get possession back to Titans. It looked like Willie Mays tracking down a long drive to center field as Schlosser raced back to get it.

But Titans put the ball on the ground and a big scrum ensues fighting for the ball. Ball squirts out to Wiley Osborne at the top of the box. Wiley goes right hard drawing the D to him, and hits Moore Harris coming in from the right with a pinpoint pass in front of the cage. Moore uses his 6'4" height to shoot the ball over the goalies head at a severe angle and score for the Titans. 2-0

Titans are called for a penalty on the next possession and play man down. Throughout the game and all of today, the boys playing this defense - and responsibilities are being shared among most of the boys - have been awesome and stifling. On this possession, Nova drops a pass and Briton Barge pounces on the loose ball. He passes back to Jack McGovern who hits Rudy Buhlman for the clear. But the offense fails to score.

Titans are called for a penalty again and play man down defense again. Nova fails to even get off a shot and Matt Corbin steps up and makes some great defensive plays. On the clear, Nova is called for a slash and Titans go man up.

Titans work ball around and Wiley Osborne takes a nice "low to high" side-armed shot the goes a little high over the goal. Ball back to Nova now.

Nova tries to clear from defensive end, but Rudy Buhlman knocks the Nova middie out of bounds - ball back to Titans. Offense can't covert so Nova takes over. But as Nova tries to work ball around the box, Briton Barge intercepts and hits Joe Lang driving in from the left. Lang is just a little bit high with his shot, but ball back to Titans. Offense doesn't score and Nova takes over.

Nova works the ball around the net and then a big, strong player tries to bully his way towards goal. James Harrison plays great D not allowing the player to get a good look, and then Harrison checks his stick which everyone thought would be a sensational turnover, but instead the ball pops out of the players stick and Will Ernst is caught off guard on the score. 2-1 Titans. Fluky goal, the Nova player was just trying to stop a check and the ball popped into the net.

Nova gets the face off, but again there is great D by our defenders. David Fleming with great defense keeps the shooter behind the net and then Fleming pushes the player into the crease resulting in a Titans turnover. Jackson Teague plays great D and checks the ball out of the Nova player's hand. James Harrison also plays good D and also forces a turn over. Ball back to Titans.

Nova called for a penalty and Titans work the ball around the man up offense and eventually, Patrick Tracy hits Moore Harris at the top of the box. Harris fires a 20 yard shot that zips by the goalie and the lead goes to 3-1.

The face off goes to Nova, but Jack McGovern forces a bad pass. Titans can't clear and Nova takes a shot on Will Ernst who makes a nice save. Matt Corbin works to clear but ball comes loose. Corbin kicks the ball into the goalie's circle and Ernst clears to Joe Lang. Lang works to the middle of the field where he rockets an underhanded shot between the goalie's legs to push the score to 4-1.

Defense holds the ball for the last 30 seconds and the prevent Nova from even getting off a shot. Half ends and score is GS Titans 4 and Nova 1.

2nd Half

Titans get possession in 2nd half. But Rudy Buhlman and Jack McGovern knock the shooter backwards. His desperate weak shot goes wide and back to Titans. Offense turns ball over and Nova comes in on a fast break. But Cameron Bowlby makes a great stop and clears to Mikie Schlosser who shoots and misses just wide.

Nova tries to clear but Charlie Ford and Jack McGovern cause a turnover and ball goes back to Titans. Great D again. Offense can't score and Nova is now determined to get something going. But Charlie Ford and Jack McGovern make nice D plays to keep Nova from even getting a shot. Then Ian Nuzum makes a great slide on D to prevent a shot. But Nova retains possession. Then a Nova player gets loose in front of our goalie, but Cam Bowlby is up for the challenge and stuffs his shot.

Titans clear and Jack McGovern brings the ball all the way into our offensive box where he finds Jack McCormick on the wing. But Titan turnover again and Nova scores another fluky goal to make the score 4-2. It was fluky because a big scrum of boys are fighting for the loose ball in front of the cage when the ball comes squirting out to an open Nova player who moves Cam Bowlby and scores.

After some changes of possession, Nova scores again just getting a ball to trickle past Cam Bowlby. 4-3 Titans. Not one of their goals came from a good lacrosse shot.

Matt Corbin makes a great check and turnover happen and Spencer Evans drives right again but his shot hits the post. Titans retain possession. Boys are patient this time and finally after working it around several times, Patrick Tracy finds Will Montero open on the wing. Montero fires a low shot that goes between the legs of the goalie and scores making it 5-3

Spencer Evans now taking the face off. Refs call Titans for a penalty. But Titans D steps up once again and won't allow a shot. After clearing, Mikie Schlosser takes a shot on goal but goalie stops shot. However, the ball rolls out of goalie's stick and Frankie Hattler picks up the loose ball and jumps across and over the goalie and crease to score. Now 6-3 Titans.

Nova wins the face off, but great double team by Briton Barge and Jackson Teague cause a loose ball. Barge drives down the middle of the field past 2 or 3 defenders and rips a shot past goalie. 7-3 Titans.

Defense again plays fantastic and almost dictates the Nova possessions. Both Charlie Ford and Jack McGovern make some nice moves to dislodge the ball and get it back to Titans. Jackson Teague again plays unselfishly and as he drives to goal, hits Frankie Hattler with a clear shot. Hattler bounces it past the goal and an 8-3 lead.

Back on offense, Titans take a couple of good shots. Spencer Evans shot goes off the post. Patrick Tracey then hits Moore Harris who bullies his way in front, uses his height and shoots and scores. Score now is 9-3.

D remains tough throughout the game. Jack McGovern scoops up a loose ground ball. Riley Burke plays tough D to keep Nova players away from the goal. Matt Corbin is tenacious with Nova attackmen. Finally, Mikie Schlosser takes a nice long pass from Cam Bowlby at the end of the game to clear and Titans win again. The Avatar war cry is heard throughout the football stadium.

Tomorrow there are 4 more games. Weather says rain is supposed to pass tonight. After the 4th game, tournament directors cede teams in groups of 4 (we think) for Wednesday games. More to come tomorrow.

Game 7 & 8
Titans did well in both games this morning. First game was against Baldwin HS Team from Long Island and second game was a collection of independent players who signed up to play as guest players. Titans won both 7-2 against Baldwin and 13-1 against the Independent team.

Today boys were at a new location, Glasgow High School just a little ways from the Delaware Football stadium. Morning game was pleasant weather wise, the later game was a little hotter. Temps are about at 90 now.

Game 7 - Titans vs. Baldwin.

Titans took a while to get going this morning. Had to wake up. Baldwin hadn't won a game, although two of their games went to a Braveheart, and they lost both.

In fact, Titans were down 1-0 before we even got there. Then they were put in a man down situation, but the D once again stepped up. Will Ernst was in goal to start. Possession goes back to Titans.

Titans clear and Baldwin is called for a penalty, so Titans are now man up. Good ball movement around goal to Wiley Osborne who gets free on the left wing and scores. 1-1

Josh Wellman is back again today and gets the face off on the ground to David Fleming who clears. Shot is stopped by their goalie but Titans play well on the defensive clear and force a turnover. Both Wiley Osborne and Moore Harris get off good shots. Moore Harris' shot is stopped by the goalie, who clears all the way into our box and takes a shot but it goes wide. Baldwin maintains possession and a crease roll and shot goes in. 2-1 Baldwin.

Titans now are waking up and begin to exert their dominance.

Charlie Ford picks up a contested ground ball on the face off and clears to Jack McCormick on the wing. McCormick sees Joe Lang cutting to goal and hits him in stride. Lang bounces a shot past the goalie to tie the game 2-2.

Josh Wellman pulls the face off ball under his legs and Chad Bell scoops up the grounder. But Titans turn it over.

Titans play tough D again. Riley Burke and Jack McGovern make nice stick checks. McGovern grabs a loose ground ball and clears to midfield. Wiley Osborne takes a shot that just goes wide and the half ends 2-2.

2nd Half

Face off ground ball goes to Baldwin but Rudy Buhlman makes a nice stick check and clears to midfield. Frankie Hattler rolls from behind the cage and finds Duncan Hoskinson open in front. Hoskinson buries the shot and Titans take first lead 3-2.

Matt Emery, who's missed most of the tournament, comes in and is involved immediately. Emery drives to his right and rockets a shot that just misses, but he looks hungry.

Titans play tough D on the clear again and cause a turnover. Ball comes loose at midfield but Peter Tags lays a big hit on a Baldwin player and grabs the ground ball. Peter Tags then drives hard to his right and fires a bottom corner shot past the goalie to push the lead to 4-2.

Josh Wellman wins another face off and Spencer Evans drives left but his left handed shot goes just wide. Possession still with Titans. Frankie Hattler rolls from behind the crease and puts his shot over the goalie's shouder for a score. 5-2 Titans.

On the next face off, Riley Burke gathers in a tough ground ball but a Titans shot goes wide and back to Baldwin. Burke makes another super defensive play, creating a bad pass turnover with a nice check to the Baldwin player and Titans take over.

Chad Bell drives to goal from the right, but his bounce shot bounces a little too high over the goal - possession still with Titans.

James Harrison plays some tough D on the clear and has contained the Baldwin player, but the refs call and cross check penalty (parents thought it was cheap) and Titans play man down.

Baldwin does get off a shot on their man up, but Cam Bowlby now in goal stops and clears the ball. A Titan's shot is stopped and Baldwin goes on a fast break, but great D by Rudy Buhlman stops the fast break and he forces a bad pass turnover back to Titans.

Frankie Hattler picks up a tough ground ball but ball gets loose again past midfield. Matt Corbin scoops up the loose ball and gets it to Patrick Tracy on the wing who hits Frankie Hattler cutting to goal. Hattler whips a shot around his back that scores and Titans lead 6-2.

Jackson Teague gets the ground ball out of the scrum on the face off and gives it to Matt Emery at the top of the box. Matt drives right, leaving the Baldwin defender trailing his dust and buries the shot in the low right corner to make the score 7-2.

Only two minutes left in the half and Titans play keep away from Baldwin. Mikie Schlosser, David Fleming, Duncan Hoskinson all hold the ball and keep it away from Baldwin.

Titan win 7-2 and stay undefeated.

Next game is about half an hour on the same field. So parents make sure boys are fed, watered and in the shade to keep up their energy. We have to have one of the best parent groups helping and supporting their team here.

Independent (Blue) win the face off but Riley Burke makes a great stick check and turnover. Josh Wellman clears the ground ball.

This time it's Charlie Ford with a great stick check and ground ball turnover. Mikie Schlosser takes the ball and shoots, but it's a little high. Titans retain possession.

Jack McCormick finds Moore Harris in front of the goalie and Moore uses his height to get the ball past the goalie and a 2-0 lead.

Blue wins another face off but Rudy Buhlman checks the ball away and gets it to David Fleming who clears. Jack McCormick takes the ball from behind rolls to his left and hits Jackson Teague moving to goal with a perfect pass. Teague buries the shot. 3-0 Titans.

Back and forth on possessions until Titans get control again. Mikie Schlosser takes the ball at the top from midfield and uses his terrific speed to lose his defender, cuts left and rockets a shot in the top corner. Titans 4-0.

Will Ernst makes a nice save on the next possession and Titans clear. A couple of goos shots just miss - Spencer Evans shoots, Duncan Hoskinson shoots - then Titans settle the offense. Patrick Tracy then gets loose and fires underhanded past the goalie for the last goal of the half. 5-0 Titans.

2nd Half

Cam Bowlby in goal.

Josh Wellman wins another face off. Ball is cleared to Jack McCormick behind the cage who finds Joe Lang cutting to goal. Nice pass, nice shot and score. Titans now 6-0.

Chad Bell picks up a contested ground ball on the face off and gets into the offensive end. Will Montero takes a good shot but it's just wide and Blue takes over.. On the clear, Jack McGovern causes a turnover at midfield and sprints towards the goal, juking one defender and then firing a shot top corner past the goalie for his first high school goal and long poll goal. 7-0 Titans - and the Avatar war cry goes up on the sidelines.

Scoring becomes contagious now. On the face off, ball is cleared to Spencer Evans who goes hard to his left this time and his low, left-handed shot scores. 8-0 Titans and more Avatar war cries.

Blue gets the face off and takes the first shot of the half but don't score. James Harrison plays nice D and forces a turnover. Briton Barge clears.

Wiley Osborne with the ball behind finds Joe Lang cutting to goal from the right side. Joe takes a highlight real shot, over and around his shoulder that the goalie never sees and the lead grows to 9-0.

Peter Tags now on face off and wins. Will Montero makes a nice run at goal, cutting past his defender, but his shot from the left side is just wide.

Mikie Schlosser has the ball behind the cage now and hits Jackson Teague driving for goal. Teague catches, spins and shoots over the goalies' shoulder to score. 10-0 Titans.

Josh Wellman wins another face off and this time he drives to goal himself, but a good shot by Wellman is stopped by the goalie. On the clear, Chad Bell causes a turnover. He passes to Brion Barge who cuts from left of the goal to the right and fires a shot past the goalie. 11-0 Titans.

Blue gets the face off and get off a shot, but Cam Bowlby makes a nice kick save. Blue retains possession and works the ball around again, finding a player in the middle who bounces a shot that just gets by Bowlby. 11-1 Titans.

Titans get possession but turn the ball over. On the clear, Rudy Buhlman intercepts a pass. He clears to Joe Lang cutting in from the left. Lang draws the D to him and finds Patrick Tracy on the right for a shot and score. 12-1 Titans.

Mikie Schlosser gets the ball on the face off and clears. Boys work the ball around now, having to keep it in the box on the last two minutes. Frankie Hattler finds Patrick Tracy alone on the left of the goalie who scores the final Titans goal. 13-1 now.

Titans hold the ball in their offensive end for last minute of the game. Nice win against a team they should definitely dominate.

Game 9

Titans are really clicking on all cylinders. They are looking so good at all levels. This afternoon the boys played a team of Florida All Stars who were 5-3 so far. Florida played hard, but are boys were absolutely dominate. Final score was 17-1 Titans.

Game was on the practice football field, with old style astroturf. Game time temperature was about 95 and not a cloud in the sky.

I made the mistake of sitting in the middle of the Florida moms of long polls, and the screaming for their boys and against our boys was deafening. But the more we played, the quieter they got.

Game Summary: Will Ernst starts in goal.

Josh Wellman starts game off well by winning the first face off. Ball is quickly worked to the back of the net where Moore Harris finds Jack McCormick darting in from the left. Titans score quickly 1-0.

Florida gets next face off and our D is very aggressive. Florida can't hardly move the ball, but a checked ball gets loose and a Florida player scoops it up in front of the goal and scores. 1-1 Florida parents are going crazy. Little do they know they won't score for the rest of the game.

Florida takes the next face off but again, long polls and shorties are very aggressive and play tough D. Charlie Ford clears a loose ball to Jack McCormick on the right wing who beats two defenders with a cutback move and rolls in from the right to score 2-1 Titans.

Titans are called for a penalty and Florida goes man up. But tough D again, and Briton Barge checks the ball lose and clears to the offensive end. Jack McCormick hits Moore Harris again in front but his shot is just high. Titans keep possession and this time Will Montero hits Moore Harris in front where he buries this shot and the score is 3-1.

Titans get face off and Florida is called for off-sides. Titans go man up but can't get off a shot (Florida parents love this by the way).

Florida goes on attack but Will Ernst stops a shot and Jack McGovern clears for Titans.

Florida gains back possession, but Rudy Buhlman and Matt Corbin cause a turnover and clear the ball. Titans move the ball around Florida goal and get to Spencer Evans at the top of the box. Spencer drives hard to the right, squares his hips, and buries the shot in the top corner of the net. 4-1 Titans (Florida parents start to worry out loud about an "butt whippin" - their words not mine.)

Titans win another face off and Frankie Hattler gets loose from behind, rolls around the crease and scores. 5-1 Titans.

Dave Fleming gets the ground ball on the face off and takes the ball into the box himself. Fleming dodges right and rips a shot but it's just high. Titans keep possession. Patrick Tracy works the ball from behind drawing a double team and then hits Dave Fleming with a perfect pass and quick stick goal. 6-1 Titans.

Wellman wins another face off and the ball rolls to Joe Lang at midfield. Lang dodges defenders, gets loose in the middle of the box and bounces a shot past goalie to push the score to 7-1.

Next possession goes to Titans again. Chad Bell grabs a loose ground ball and works it into the box. Ball gets loose heading towards the out of bounds, but Peter Tags sprints to save it and maintain possession. Good hustle. Frankie Hattler gets the ball behind the cage and rolls around the crease. He gets crunched by three Florida defenders, somehow maintains possession and takes a jump shot that finds the back of the net. Now 8-1 Titans. (Florida parents start yelling for ref to check the stick - and the ref ignores them).

Florida gets the next possession but D steps up again and clears. David Fleming clears and starts a beautiful play for Titans. Patrick Tracy on the right, hits Frankie Hattler on the wing, who passes to Duncan Hoskinson alone in front and a terrific goal. 9-1 Titans. Really beautiful lacrosse.

Florida goes on offense. Jack McGovern with a great lift check to knock the ball away, but Florida retains possession. Riley Burke and Briton Barge double team Florida player and cause a fabulous turnover. Spencer Evans gets the ball and clears. Will Montero takes a shot but it goes just high. Titans with ball back again but ball gets loose but Will Montero makes a great play picking up the loose ball. But Florida takes over possession.

Again, Titans D step up and play smart and aggressive. Possession back to Titans. Briton Barge takes the ball from the top and drives to his right. Even with a slash on his face (that the ref calls), Briton keeps going and fires a shot past the goalie. 10-1 Titans. Great continuation by Barge to keep play going even with a flag called on Florida. Titans go man up. And when Josh Wellman wins the face off and is slashed in the face - Titans go 2 men up. Titans waste little time scoring. They move the ball once around the box and Joe Lang winds up and takes a shot from the top of the box that goes past the goalie's shoe and the lead goes to 11-1. Florida parents are getting real quite.

Josh Wellman gets the face off and makes sure Florida can't touch the ball as the half ends. Really good half for Titans against a fairly good team.

2nd Half

Florida does win the face off, but Chad Bell makes a great stick to knock the ball away and he grabs the ground ball. Titans can't score and Florida clears. But when they try to set up offense, Matt Corbin knocks the ball away and clears for the Titans without Florida getting off a shot.

Titans go on offense. Wiley Osborne works the ball from behind the cage to Jack McCormick cutting in from the left. McCormick has his highlight reel shot when he buries the ball into the net with a behind the back shot past the goalie. 12-1 Titans.

Florida commits a foul and Titans go man up on offense. Wiley Osborne makes a nice play to save an errant pass, but Titans can't score this time and Florida takes over.

Matt Corbin forces a turnover and clears the ball to Joe Lang at midfield. Jack McCormick hits Chad Bell with a pass but Bell's shot is a little high and Florida takes over again.

D steps up again and Matt Corbin grabs a loose ball and clears to the offense. Wiley Osborne makes a nice spin move from the right wing, but his shot hits the post and goes wide. Titans keep possession and Moore Harris gets the ball to Jack McCormick who takes a jump shot and scores. Now 13-1

Florida gets next possession but can't penetrate our D. Rudy Buhlman checks the ball away and clears to David Fleming who finds Moore Harris alone streaking to goal with a pinpoint 30 yard pass. Harris buries the shot and Titans go up 14-1 (Florida parents are totally silent now).

Florida finally gets off a shot, but it's easily saved by Cam Bowlby who's been in goal the whole second half. Peter Tags clears the ball past midfield and boys work the ball around the horn. Patient Titans finally find an opening and Moore Harris hits Wiley Osborne for an open shot which he rockets past the goalie. 15-1 Titans.

Spencer Evans takes the face off and wins it, but Titans turn it over.

Rudy Buhlman makes a nice check to force a turnover back to Titans. But Titans don't score and are called for a penalty. Now play man down.

Great D again when Briton Barge picks off a pass at the top of the box and Titans clear but don't score. Florida goes back on offense, but Cam Bowlby intercepts a pass but Titans can't clear. Bowlby makes another save and again Titans don't score.

Charlie Ford is able to grab a loose ball on defense and makes some great moves down the field determined to take a shot. He has beautiful form and the goalie gets lucky and makes a stick save to deny Ford. Titans keep possession. Patrick Tracy streaks in from the right wing, but his jump shot is stopped by the goalie. However, the ball rolls out in front and Duncan Hoskinson quickly jumps on it and flips it past the goalie into the top corner. 16-1 Titans.

Spencer Evans tries the face off again and pulls the ball back between his legs to David Fleming who clears. Fleming rips a shot that goes just wide. Duncan Hoskinson's shot is just a little high. Then Joe Lang takes the ball from the top, drives left, cuts back to his right and scores the final goal of the game for Titans. 17-1

All three long polls on defense keep Florida from even taking a shot. Matt Corbin, Rudy Buhlman and Jack McGovern all play tenacious D and Titans win again.

One more game to go undefeated and then playoffs will be tomorrow.

NUMER 10...last of the regular schedule

WHEW!!!!

Well, the Titans finished the qualifying round with a 3-2 victory and an undefeated record after 10 games. But it was a struggle and last second shot that allowed us to get into the championship bracket. We played a team from different parts of Massachutts called IAS. Tomorrow we play Ward Melville at 8AM on the football practice field. Should be a very tough and challenging game. Ward Melville is a high school team from Long Island that finished ranked 23rd by laxpower last season with a 16-2 record, but they are always one of the top teams in the country each year.

Game Summary: Weather was cooler tonight and the sun was setting but should not have been a problem for the boys. Grass field at Glasgow High School.

This game was a struggle of defenses. We clearly had more shots than IAS, but our pinpoint passing was not there tonight and we had too many unforced and forced turnovers. Our D was very good at keeping IAS from taking good shots and the shots they put on cage were stopped by Ernst and Bowlby in net.

Josh Wellman starts on the face off and Titans win as Wellman gets the ball back to Joe Lang. Matt Emery takes the ball from the top of the box and drives right, ripping a low shot that is stopped by the goalie. IAS gets possession. One of their middies gets free and is able to get his shot past Will Ernst for the early lead 1-0.

Titans get the face off and work the ball around but errant pass heads for out of bounds. Wiley Osborne gets a great ground ball and keeps possession for Titans. Mikie Schlosser takes a nice shot from the right side, but it goes just wide. Titans keep possession. Chad Bell then drives from the top to his right and rips a low scorcher past the goalie to tie the game 1-1.

Josh Wellman gets a tough ground ball on the face off and Titans get possession.

Possessions go back and forth several times. Joe Lang makes a good clear. Jack McCormick hits the post with a shot. Titans play tough D and don't let IAS get any shots. Peter Tags makes a great play to save a ball heading for the sidelines. Finally, Matt Emery gets the ball at the top of the box again and drives hard to his right, ripping a bottom corner burner past the goalie and the lead goes to 2-1.

Josh Wellman wins another face off but Titans turn it over. Rudy Buhlman makes a good play forcing an IAS player into a bad shot 10 feet over the goalie and then another nice play forcing IAS to throw the ball away.

Titans get off some good shots - Mikie Schlosser puts one just high over the bar. Jack McCormick's shot is stopped by the goalie. Ball back to IAS.

Jack McGovern forces a bad pass turnover and Titans don't allow a shot by IAS. Dave Fleming clears but Titans don't score.

Titans called for a penalty and play man down. Will Ernst stops one shot and then D forces a turnover back to Titans. Joe Lang clears and is slashed in the face as he shoots, but the shot goes wide. Titans don't score on man up offense and half ends 2-1 Titans.

2nd half

Titans get a tough ground ball on the face off but Jack McCormick's shot goes just high. Spencer Evans takes a shot that goes high. A fast break by IAS results in a goal to tie the score 2-2.

Rudy Buhlman makes a great check turnover. Jack McGovern gets a ground ball, dodges two IAS players and clears. But again Titans can't score on either possession.

Matt Corbin plays terrific D to stop an IAS player from getting to goal, but Titans called for penalty and play man down. Jack McGovern and Riley Burke cause a turnover on the man down and Titans get ball back without IAS getting off a shot. Penalty killed.

Now Titans get a man up opportunity. Frankie Hattler gets off a nice shot but it's stopped by the goalie. On another possession, Jack McCormick gets off another good shot but it's just wide. Wiley Osborne gets a nice look and shoots, but it goes wide.

Titans get another man up opportunity as IAS is being called for lots of penalties. Spencer Evans shot goes high and ball goes back to IAS.

Defense is up to the test. Matt Corbin gets the ball after a great check and clears.

Michael Tagliaferri suits up after being injured for last several games and has an immediate impact. He draws defenders to him but Titans can't score on several possessions.

Chad Bell picks up a tough ground ball to keep possession for Titans. Michael Tags gets loose but his bounce shot goes over the goal and it's still tied with time running down.

Wiley Osborne gets off a good shot but it's wide. Jackson Teague takes a shot that goes wide. On the possession, IAS is called for 2 penalties and has to play two men down. After working the ball around, Jack McCormick saves the day with a low skip shot that gets past the goalie for a 3-2 lead. Ref blows the whistle and game ends with the Titans winning.

A big WHEW from the parents.

Boys are pumped. Their chaperone (each team has one) whom the boys call Slick RIck, runs across the field and does a flip to celebrate for the boys. Josh "the Tank" Wellman copies him and flips head over heals to the Avatar War cry of the Titans.

Now it's on to the championship bracket to see how we do.

There are six teams in the bracket - all undefeated. Don't know how they ceded teams but top two teams have a bye and the next four team (including the Titans) play each other for the right to play one of the teams with a first round bye. West Islip - a perennial high school powerhouse and a team of All Stars from Florida have the bye. If we win, we'll play one of them.

Go Titans!!!

And congratulations to the Titans selected to the All Star teams:

Michael Tagliaferri - rising Senior
Charlie Ford - rising Junior
Will Montero - rising Junior
Will Ernst - rising Junior
Cam Bowlby - rising Junior
