Lacrosse for Life 7K

The Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation in conjunction with Lacrosse for Life held their Annual "21 Run West 5K" today. Here's the background:

Please join us Saturday, August 21, 2010, in celebrating the life of Mario St. George Boiardi (#21) at the "21 Run West 5K".

Lacrosse for LIFE is honored to be selected as one of the recipients of this fundraiser. Having suffered the loss of our co-founder,
we know the importance of remembering our loved ones.
A senior lacrosse captain and exceptional student at Cornell University, George was on the path toward becoming a teacher on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota with Teach for America before he passed away in a lacrosse contest on March 17, 2004.

The run started ar 10:21 and was a 7K tour around Lake Merced in the city. A number of Lacrosse teams were represented and a great time was had by all!

Here are some shots of participants:
Ted, Connor, and Ryan repped De La Salle. The San Ramon laxers had football practice, but that didn't stop a sizable contingent of Wolves parents - and sibling - from supporting the Boiardi Foundation's goals! And last, but not least, nine boys from the Saint Ignatius Varsity showed up to support the cause. Sam, Brian, Peter, Johno, Harrison, JW, Jack, Bobby, and Chase all ran the race. Worth noting that a year from now, Connor Hunt will be heading off to Cornell to play lacrosse for the Big Red. Finally, a shout out to Harrison Mallen, who was first to cross the finish line!

Two of NorCal's nicest Lacrosse Moms crossing the finish line with an amazing burst of speed. One wonders what their times might have been, had they kept this pace throughout the race!

The Lacrosse for Life folks had a tableful of raffle items. Tickets to the San Francisco Lacrosse Classic, Oakley Thumps sun glasses with built-in MP3 player, cool shirts and hats, etc.... One raffle item, however, had most of the laxers drooling. A pair of official Cornell gloves, with a Big Red C on the cuff and the number 24 sewn in. Ultra cool!!! Here's a picture of the winner. First person to correctly identify the player gets... congratulations. Who is it?
