NCS Brackets Revealed

NCS Brackets Revealed

Postby rolax » Sun May 07, 2017 3:17 pm

NCS Playoff Brackets have been released for D1 and D2:
D1 - http://www.maxpreps.com/tournament/pZOF ... sion-1.htm
D2 - http://www.maxpreps.com/tournament/pZOF ... sion-2.htm

Doesn't look like there were too many surprises in seeding. Any opinions or predictions?

Rolax asked if any surprises in the NCS seedings and the answer is no not really but some differences for sure in the computer power ranking at Lax power and the selection committee seeding. I think the committee got it right. Here is how the computers saw the top 12: 1. SRV PR 99.06 2. Granite Bay PR 96.90 3. Amador Valley PR 96.87 4. DLS PR 96.77 5. Monte vista PR 96.26 6. Oak Ridge PR 96.22
7.Marin Catholic PR 95.45 8 Redwood 95.28 9. Davis PR 95.13 10. Jesuit Sacramento PR 94.91 11. Foothill PR 94.52 12. Casa Grande PR 93.84.

The NCS Selection committee, however, saw the top 12 as follows. 1. SRV 2. DLS. 3. Monte vista 4 .Granite Bay 5. Amador Valley 6. Redwood. 7. Marin Catholic 8. Oak Ridge. 9. Davis. 10. Foothill 11. Jesuit. 12. Casa Grande. De la Salle earned that number 2 seed by beating Monte Vista recently and playing the number one team in California St Ignatius tough losing only 7-5 just eight days ago.

First round games are gereally very one sided and all the higher seeds should advance without difficulty tonight. Last year, however, a 5 seed Davis lost to a 12 seed College Park in the first round. Based upon results like that the seeding committee still doesn't have enough confidence in the Sacramento area schools ( read Granite Bay, Davis, Oak Ridge) to grant them a real high seed. I agree. Let's see how they do this year.

The best game tonight will be the 8 seed Oak Ridge and 9th seed Davis . They split their 2 regular season games Davis winning the first 15-11 and losing in their last game of the season to the Trojans 14-6.Lax power calls it a close game but favors Oak Ridge by 3. Davis will certainly have an incentive tonight to avenge their embarrassing early exit from the tournament last year. The winner of Oak Ridge and Davis game tonight will have the chance to show what they can do when they play at # 1 seed San Ramon Valley at San Ramon this Friday night in the quarter finals. Let the games begin. Thoughts any one else ???

In Div two with Marin Catholic now playing in Div 1 can anyone beat Campolindo or Acalanes? I doubt it. Campos double overtime loss to DLS on April 18 now looks pretty impressive. Both Campolindo and the Dons have a bye in the first round. Think Campo has to be favored to win it all.
