Today's the last day for voting in the poll! It's a really difficult season to sort out a whole bunch of good teams, including a couple I've never voted for before. I'm eager to see the consensus.

No chatter on this? I think next time I'll set it up for voting on 10 but posting 15.

Poll #'s 2-6 will be mixing it up in next 2 weeks and there will be a clear picture - heck maybe by Friday 9:00PM.

How a 1st place vote goes to anyone other than SI is a mystery.

Why is that a mystery? Over the next few years you'll see SI getting beat a few times.
I think Amador Valley will be #1 this year.

I'm not sure yet if I can be as confident as Calaxmom about Amador being #1 just yet, but having seen S.I. vs Foothill a couple of games ago, Foothill gave S.I. all it could handle for 3 quarters. Granted S.I. outscored the young Falcons 5-0 in the 4th to make the final seem a bit less tight than the game was. Foothill has gone on to beat M.V. and squeak out an OT victory over what seemed to be an average Cal High. I did hear that FH was missing 3 D-Poles for that game, but AV beat Cal 15-2 the previous game and had many starters out before halftime.

My observations on S.I. are that they are definately a very good team, but having watched them very closely over the last 4 years they seem to be a step behind previous teams in a couple of areas. 1. They are smaller overall and lack a real physical presence they've had in the past. 2. They really rely on 3 or 4 guys to get the majority of their goals, and seem to really rely on one on one play much more to be successful. 3. The hallmark hard fast long passing is not nearly as crisp as I've seen in the past. I'm not sure if Art has seen them this year, but I have to respectfully disagree that this year (and maybe next), may be the time that S.I. is vulnerable as evidenced by the recent loss to Coronado (which also beat DeLaSalle btw). DeLa plays Foothill tonight and Amador on Friday, so we should have a much better idea about the relative strength of the young Falcons and Don's. \:D/ BTW, while my username should indicate I'm likely a Don's fan, I voted DeLa #1 S.I. #2 and A.V. #3 at the current time. I am very curious and excited that the Don's still got 4 first place votes

Purple Lax, the one thing that I will agree with you about this years SI team is the lack of a physical presence that past teams have had. Last years team was big physically but also had an attitude that they were going to physically control the game. The more physical it got, the better they liked it. Most of the starting 11 were also on the varsity football team. This years team is smaller, faster and, overall, probably has more lax skills. They are just starting to gel as a team and the loss on Saturday may, in the long run, be of a benefit. We will see tomorrow night how they bounce back.

Maybe 14, if you count the FO, 2 SSDMs and an LSM. I'd count them all as starters. Not to get in the way of your bon mot, door. Very funny.
