MV over DLS 10-7. Anyone have the Foothill v. San Ramon score?

I caught the SRV-FH game last night - my first of the season - and it was a good one. SRV broke out early to take a 5-1 lead early in the first and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Falcons. FH battled back with a few quick goals in the second and if I recall correctly SRV had a 6-5 lead at half. Goals were traded and the 3rd ended tied 8-8. While we were all hoping for a spectacular finish, it was not to be. SRV broke out the rocket launchers in the 4th and FH just ran out of gas. Game ended 14-8. It was a much much better game than the score would indicate.

I was really surprised at how good FH looked. I heard they struggled mightily in preseason scrimmages against SI and Acalanes, they graduated a lot of multi-year starters last year, and as far as I can tell only have one starting Senior in goalie Patrick Shevelson. Despite all that I'll have to say the offense looks better to me than it did last year. They play very unselfish ball and I would bet at least 6 of the 8 FH goals were assisted. Off ball movement seemed much better to me than in years past, cutters are getting open, and are looking for the pass. Shevelson was terrific last night, and anchors a young defense. Until the 4th quarter, they hung with SRV admirably and forced a lot of high shots with timely checks. After last night, FH should feel pretty good about their ability to play with the rest of EBAL.

On the SRV side, I've heard they've been hit early with the injury bug. Never the less, they are what you'd expect them to be. Big, fast, smart and when they get some space can shoot. Defensively they were rarely out of position and Bowlby was excellent. I was surprised how well they did on faceoffs. I know Foothill has good faceoff guys, but SRV seemed to dominate that aspect.

Congrats to both teams. On a final note, I've long thought that FH had the best announcer in EBAL, but the new SRV announcer is now in the running for that honor. I expect a heated competition between these two guys this year.

SI beats Bellarmine 17-3 at Bellarmine.

SI was too deep and strong against a rebuilding Bellarmine squad which apparently graduated 20 seniors last year. SI took an early 8-1 lead in the first quarter and liberally substituted throughout the game. SI scoring was achieved through 10 different players and the defense played another solid game.

Anyone at the Amador / Monte Vista game last night? The win isn't shocking, but the score is. What happened?

I wasn't at the game but Laxpower has Amador beating MV 13-4. Both the win and the score would be shocking if that is the case. Almost sounds like the score was posted backwards?

That makes more sense to me. MV's defense has been pretty solid this year and have done a good job of keeping the goal count down. I haven't seen every game, but other than a spotty first half against Acalanes, they have been pretty solid. With all the changes on offense this year they have been trying different offenses to see what works best with the talents they have. They have quite a few kids who can put the ball on goal and a good mix of outside and inside shooters. I think they are beginning to find a system that works.
