Re: Davis at Amador Valley, 5:00 p.m. Wed. May 18

Have seen Amador play several times this year but have not seen Davis. The two teams have not played any comment opponents this season, so hard to get an idea there. The relative laxpower ratings would favor Amador by 5 or so. I think Amador playing at home will help them as well. I predict Amador by 6.
What if the hokey-pokey IS what its all about?

Amador Valley 18, Davis 5

Amador Valley 18, Davis 5

Good games from Carson Ewanich, Mitch Flaherty and DJ Wessel, the midfielders. Most of the scoring came from Ewanich & Flaherty and Wessel did a good job supplying the one man clear. Platt gave way at goal in the 4th, but wasn't seriously tested. Flaherty might have shown the best next-level skills with a pretty deadly low to high left handed crank.

Davis is a young team with a lot of freshman and sophomores. Some good players included sophomore midfielder Mike Schlosser who had two straight goals and is probably Davis' best player, sophomore Ryan Geary at midfield and soph Will Hawkins at goal who made some good saves despite the score. One flurry of 4 straight saves led direct to a fast break goal for Davis.

The pattern of lower seeds falling a little short in the Division 1 tournament continues with Amador Valley's Dons taking out the Davis Blue Devils to the tune of 18-5. Amador Valley plays Monte Vista at Monte Vista Friday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Yikes. I jumped two brackets. I'll get it right in the individual game posts.

Sorry about that. #-o
