The Yale Grad: JW McGovern (SI)

Yale has won the Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament 3 of the last 4 years, thereby earning a place in the NCAA DI tournament in 3 of the last four years. A Senior Class of 8 guys moved Yale up to be a recurring top 10 team. This year, Yale was ranked #1 in the nation for several weeks, but injuries and gravity pulled them back to be merely a darned good team.

NorCal's only Ivy League Lacrosse graduate this year is a Yalie – JW McGovern, who attended Saint Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. He has been a strong contributor – and sometimes starter – for Yale's Lacrosse team during his four years. While his parents have always rooted for his on-field endeavors, their primary rooting interest was for his academic efforts. Here's a pic of JW on Senior Day:

He earned his degree in Economics, with Distinction in the Major, and was awarded cum Laude honors from Yale for achieving a 3.885 GPA. He'll be moving back to San Francisco, his hometown, where he'll work in Investment Banking for Morgan Stanley & Co.

Bill and Kathryn are very proud of you, JW!
