My Usual Spots ...

Postby navlax76 » Thu Feb 16, 2006 7:34 pm

early morning stop to the evil coffee empire, the bagel shop, then the fields. Youth clinic at 0900-1100, then youth team chalk talks, after that comes the joy of watching the Coronado lacrosse country team take to the track. I'll be banging my trademark change-up shots at the youth goalies who are still hanging around, while the lads out for the H.S. teams are being tested for their physical fitness. Between Coach Cade, the other coaches and maybe a few manaical Coronado Navy fellows; tested the lads shall be.

"The only easy day was yesterday."

Being our first year in CIF SD, we start tomorrow morning as well. We have been able to get in 50 minutes of padded up stick work for about two weeks now, so that has been good. But we are still missing 4-5 starters to soccer and basketball.

We play RLS on the 1st of March. Should be interesting.

Multi-sport Athletes

Postby navlax76 » Fri Feb 17, 2006 2:30 pm

It's tough for a school that has a high percentage of multi-sport athletes and a small overall student population. With literally three-fifths of their lacrosse team playing winter sports, Coronado had less than five days of full-field practice and no scrimmages before competing in last year's First 4 Tournament and it showed.

Wishing you the best of luck in your "new" section. I'd think the SD-CIF Coastal Conference title will be hotly contested between yourselves, Bishop's and San Dieguito (although they suffered the most in terms of graduation losses.)

That's what I hear. We are excited, and are looking forward to having a fun year.
