Dragons Draft

Dragons Draft

Postby top shooter » Thu May 29, 2008 11:29 pm

Dragons Pick:
Mike Podgajny M (Notre Dame)
Matt Lalli M (Colgate)
Kevin Huntley A (Johns Hopkins)
Brendan Loftus M (Syracuse)
Ryan Cranston M (Lynchburg)
Sean Krygier D (UMass)
Daryl Veltman A (Hobart)
Tom Michaelsen M (St. Johns)

I am really upset with the Dragons trading Kevin Huntley to LA Riptide.

They did get Sean Lindsay, a former 1st team AA and leader in 2-pointers last year, in return. But I agree, it is kinda sad that the Dragons gave Huntley up; he seemed to have a knack for putting up points in big games, and he would've teamed up with former JHU teammate Jake Byrne again. Hopefully, David Mitchell will provide quality left-hand power.
EAT-SLEEP-PLAY. THE FIRST TWO ARE OPTIONAL.

The common theme? OFFENSE. After watching the game against the machine, the dragons had some holes to fill after trading away ryan powell and nate watkins. I really like Matt Lalli from Colgate

Inside Lacrosse's Quint Kessenich grades each MLL team's draft here.

What are the chances of all of those players making the team? Will they all be added to the roster? Or will the Dragons have to cut others to make room for anyone they add to the roster? I don't know how the MLL works.

I'm not too impressed with the Dragon's draft. I suppose the selection interview has a lot to do with it, as some players may not be interested in traveling to the west. That's why we tend to get players from western Canada.

It was great to get Sean Lindsay, but in addition to giving up Huntley, they gave up their first round pick next year. As I see the MLL teams stacking up, that seems like it could be a very high pick next year. Conceivably, number 1. LA could get Zack Greer as part of this deal.

By the way, the Dragons are encouraging people to get to the stadium early to avoid traffic problems.

Just a bunch of hype to make people get there early. Announced crowd of 3600, bet there was no more then 2000 in attendance. Traffic would be a problem in that area when you get 8K or more.

Still can't believe R. Powell is gone - would like to see a trade for GM/EVP/"Insert more prestigious titles here" Locker next.

There were way more than 2000 people there last night. After being at all the games last year the turnout was much better. I know more than 3400 tix were sold but the actual people in seats is harder to figure out. There were more people there last night than at Harvard Stadium last week for the Cannons v Rattlers game. Nice to see a good crowd. Would have been better with a SF win!

I wonder if having the NCJLA championships at the Staduim this weekend helped raise the draw, as was intended.

I remember opening day at Kezar, and there was a huge back up at the ticket booth. Getting there early would have been advisable anyway.

I think the turnout was pretty good, but the NCJLAX tournament surely helped.

I had a good time at the game. It was nice to not have the running track between the stands and the field.
