Stanford Breaks Into Top 10

Stanford Breaks Into Top 10

For the first time ever, Stanford's women break into the Top 10 in 8th or 9th place nationally, depending on the poll. They take academics seriously there, so "dead week" (when term papers are due) and finals week were a two week break in the action for the Cardinal. Then yesterday they returned to play, thrashing Cincinnati, 18-4. Cincy had lost to Oregon 14-8 on Saturday.

Next they take to the road to face No. 1 or No. 2 Maryland and then No. 10 Towson. They likely need to beat Towson to stay in the Top 10.

This year the Mountain Pacific conference champion gets an automatic invitation to the NCAA tournament, at long last.
